K5 International has taken on international rights to Vehicle 19, which is set to star Paul Walker, the star of FAST FIVE, which drew record breaking box office receipts this past weekend of $132.1 million worldwide. Walker will star and executive produce in the new action thriller which will shoot this summer in South Africa.
The original screenplay, which recently appeared on the prestigious “Blacklist”, was penned by South African filmmaker Mukunda Michael Dewil who will also direct.
Walker plays a traveler who picks up the wrong rental car (with a woman in the trunk) and he becomes a target for a corrupt police force.
Peter Safran (Buried) and Ryan Haidarian (formerly of the NFVF) will produce.
K5 – which is based in Munich, London and Los Angeles — will start pre-sales in Cannes. UTA’s Rena Ronson represents North American rights.
K5’s deal came together from its own funding plus investments from Kevin Frakes’ PalmStar Media Capital and Eric Fischer’s EFish Entertainment.
